Athletes Without Limits 2020 Event Updates:
Our thoughts are with all those affected by coronavirus (COVID-19). As part of community efforts to help prevent the spread Athletes Without Limits National and AWL DC Sports have postponed upcoming practices and events including the following. We are working on approaches to home fitness plans until group activities resume.
September 2020:
- Athletes able to ride and film in their home barns can still submit their video entries to the 2020 Virtus Equestrian World Championships.
July 2020:
- AWL DC Rowing summer/fall training in single boats begins following strict new boathouse COVID guidelines and safety measures. Detailed information will be shared directly with team members.
- July 2020 Virtus Tennis World Championships in Belgium: AWL will no longer be organizing a U.S. trip to the event which Virtus has rescheduled for July 18-24, 2021.)
- July 2020 Virtus Cycling World Championships (Cancelled)
- 2020 Virtus Half Marathon World Championships (Cancelled)
June 2020:
- June AWL Invitational Swim Meet: We were about to announce a June invitational meet in Atlanta hosted by the Nautical Milers, but will hold off until more information is available.
April 2020:
- The April 4-5, 2020 San Diego Crew Classic has been cancelled as is the AWL DC Sports Veteran Leaders /Freedom Rows trip to the event. Read the announcement.
- AWL’s May Skyliners Time Trial, Duathlon & 5k Run Series in Bend, Oregon has been postponed. We are exploring rescheduling.
March 2020:
- AWL DC Sports March 2020 Winter Fit, Rowing practices and upcoming travel to regattas have been suspended while Anacostia Community Boathouse and other venues are closed to group activities. (We will post spring regatta cancellations/postponements on the AWL DC Sports website.)
- 2nd Virtus Cyber Rowing Video Competition has been cancelled. Hosted by AWL this event was previously postponed but has since been cancelled.
- 2020 Virtus Skiing World Championships in Italy has been cancelled.
