Eight Para Swimmers with Intellectual Impairment Headed to U.S. Paralympic Swim Team Trials In June

Athletes Without Limits would like to congratulate the eight swimmers with Intellectual Impairment (Class S14) who have qualified for the 2024 U.S. Paralympic Swim Team Trials June 27-29, 2024.

Abigail Kershaw, Tessa Nagy and Piper Sadowski are the three S14 women heading to Minneapolis, while Tyler Austin, Jacob Basini, Jeff Lovett, Trevor Lukascko, and Lawrence Sapp will represent the S14 Class for the men.

Lawrence Sapp  from Maryland, has previous experience as a Paralympic Team member having been selected for the 2021 U.S. Paralympic Team in Tokyo. (You can read his impressive Paralympic Team Bio at this link.)

US Paralympic team hopeful Piper Sadowski (left) earned a Bronze Medal in the 1500m as part of Athletes Without Limits US National Team at the 2023 Virtus Global Games World Championships in France. She is shown sitting with fellow Class S14 Para Swimmers and Virtus Global Games medalists from Australia and Sweden.

Athletes Without Limits is proud to have worked with each athlete on their initial Paralympic S14 Classification and has travelled with six of the eight athletes over the past few years, when they competed as part of Athletes Without Limits US National Swim Teams at Virtus International Events for high-performance athletes with Intellectual Impairments. Virtus events have given the athletes a chance to meet and compete against some of their potential S14 competitors from other countries should they qualify for the 2024 Paralympic Games.

The 2024 U.S. Paralympic Swim Team Trials are being held in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota’s campus. The event features three days of competition, followed by a team naming celebration to announce the athletes who will represent Team USA at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France.

We wish all the athletes competing at the event the best and are so proud of their swimming achievements!
