ABOUT THE TEAM:

Athletes Without Limits partners with The ARC of Detroit, with additional support from the Amazon Community Fund, to provide opportunities for high-performance basketball players with intellectual impairments to represent USA at Virtus World Championships & Global Games.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

2025 Virtus World Championships Astana

Players from our 2023 National Team that competed in Vichy France are heading to Astana, Kazahkstan June 12-24th to compete 3-on-3 in the 2025 Virtus World Basketball Championships! The event will feature high-performance teams from 14 countries and will be hosted by IDSport, the Kazakhstan Sports Federation for People with Intellectual Impairment.

2023 Virtus Global Games France

Athletes Without Limits has helped US athletes compete in high-performance Paralympic, Virtus and mainstream sports since 2009, 2023 marks the first time we’ve fielded a USA Basketball Team at the a Virtus Global Games — another example of athletes with intellectual impairment breaking ground and making history!

A highlight of the event was the Opening Ceremony Parade through Vichy and the closing of the Global Games where the team was given the “Fairplay Award” for sportsmanship.
