2012 Mike Dempsey Memorial Table Tennis Championships

ELIGIBILITY

The event is open to players who are eligible to represent their national association according to the ITTF Handbook 2010-2011. US athletes with intellectual disability should work with Athletes Without Limits in order to receive INAS eligibility. Note this process can take weeks to months so should be started as early as possible.

ENTRY PROCESS
Only entries submitted by or endorsed by the national association will be accepted (national paralympic committees are advised to contact the national association urgently to confirm this system of entry). All players must bring with them a valid passport which will be copied for the ITTF database.

• The first entry (entry by number) deadline is: 20th of September
• The second entry (entry by name) deadline is: 20th of October

In order to secure full participation, national associations failing to confirm their participation according to
deadlines will be removed from the list of participants.
The limit on the number of entries is 150 players.

EVENTS

The following events will be played:

• Men’s singles (class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,11)
• Women’s singles (class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,11)
• Men’s team (class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,11)
• Women’s team (class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,11)

Note 1: depending on the entries, the organisers and the Technical Delegate reserve the right to combine classes as may be necessary.
Note 2: the singles events will be played first followed by the team events.

SCHEDULE

• Arrivals: 27th of November 2012
• Practice days: 27th and 28th of November
• Classification seminar: 26th of November
• Technical meeting: 28th of November 2012
• Opening ceremony: 28th of November
• Competition days: 29th of November through the 1st of December
• Closing ceremony: 1st of December
• Departures: 2nd of December
• Proposed dates for the singles events: 29th of November
• Proposed dates for the singles and team events: 30th of November and 1st of December

RULES

The event will be conducted in accordance with the current Laws of Table Tennis, the Regulations
for International Competitions and specific PTT directives (which may be amended from time to time).
*** Cigarette smoking within 25 feet of any venue’s access point will result in an automatic DEFAULT! ***

EQUIPMENT

• The following equipment will be used:
• Tables: JOOLA
• Nets: JOOLA
• Balls: Nittaku ★★★
• Floor: Teraflex Sports Flooring
• Note: 24 tables will be wheelchair accessible. (12 of those will be used for competition.)

ENTRY FEES

For PTT events, the entry fees include accommodation and capitation fees. The entry fees have to be paid in US Dollars to the organisers as set out below, $850 per person sharing a room (and $1160 if a single room is desired).
Entry to be submitted with the first entry:
$255 per person sharing a room (2 in a room)
$348 per person in a single room
Entry to be submitted with the second entry:
$595 per person sharing a room (2 in a room)
$812 per person in a single room
Extra fees for support staff. Night (for instance, players for testing should arrive the 26th):
$170 per person per night sharing a room
$232 per person per night in a single room
Should there be additional team members, the fee is the same for 1st and 2nd entry form.

TRANSPORTATION
The organizers will provide transportation for teams and officials from and to San Diego International Airport (SAN).

CLASSIFICATION

Note: US athletes with intellectual disability should work with Athletes Without Limits in order to receive INAS eligibility. Note this process can take weeks to months so should be started as early as possible.

All new players and players who are to have their classification reviewed must be present in time for classification: the afternoon of the 27th of November. This means that all such players should arrive by the afternoon of the 26th of November (the day before the classification is scheduled) or the morning of the 27th of November at the latest. This is very important as players not present on time may not be classified.

All players should bring with them their medical diagnosis and any other medical information relevant to their classification. They should report to classification with these documents, dressed as if they are going to play a match and with all their table tennis equipment including sports chairs. All players and support staff are expected to cooperate fully in the classification process.

The Mike Dempsey Memorial Championships will be organized by USA Table Tennis together with Andre Scott under the auspices and authority of the International Table Tennis Federation (Para Table Tennis Division).
