2018 AWL Swimming National Championships – Rowdy Gaines Classic, Orlando FL
February 14, 2019 @ 1:23 PM EST
As part of Athletes Without Limits (AWL) mission of integrating athletes with intellectual impairment into mainstream sport we are excited to announce that the 2018 AWL Swimming National Championships will be integrated as part of the prestigious Rowdy Gaines Classic USMS Meet in at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando, Florida. In addition to open masters events the meet will include athletes with intellectual impairment in the following three Inas classes:
1. Intellectual Disability (Inas Class II1/Paralympic Class S14)
2. Down Syndrome (Inas Class II2)
3. Autism + (Inas Class II3 for those with Autism who do not meet the ID eligibility 1. above)
RESULTS: Results from the meet will count toward qualification and possible selection for the Athletes Without Limits USA Swim Team competing at the 2019 Inas Global Games in Brisbane, Australia. Inas will also sanction the results toward current Inas Records and Rankings.
ELIGIBILITY: Because the event is being held as part of a USMS meet swimmers must be age 18 to enter. A minimum of National Level Inas eligibility is required. Visit our eligibility page for instructions on applying to Athletes Without Limits for Inas eligibility.
REGISTRATION: Registration is not yet open for the 2018 meet (last year it opened in late April) — when it does athletes/teams will register directly from the Rowdy Gaines Classic event website once it has been updated with 2018 meet information. Eligible athletes with intellectual impairment may register as part of their current Masters Team, unattached or join our AWL Masters Team based in Orlando.
