Coach Bill Ewell has been a National Teams Swim Coach with Athletes Without Limits since 2022 and has travelled with and coached AWL National swimmers with Intellectual Impairment at the 2022 Virtus OA Games in Australia and the 2023 Virtus Global Games in France.
In addition to Coaching our AWL National Swimmers with Intellectual Impairment at Virtus International Swimming events, Coach Ewell is U.S. Masters Swimming Coach for Greenville Splash Masters (in South Carolina), a USMS Adult Learn to Swim Instructor, and USA Swim Official.
Noteworthy in Swimming:
- Started swimming at the age of 9 in Philadelphia under Coach Frank Keefe (1988 US
Olympic head swim coach) - Swam at Bloomsburg College (Division II school), was team captain, national qualifier
in the 200 butterfly, and Pennsylvania state champion in the 400 free relay - Masters swimmer for many years in Brandon, FL and in Sarasota, FL
Past Coaching Experience:
- Coached for three years at the Upper Main Line YMCA outside Philadelphia: B
swimmers with an emphasis on technique. - Coached 10 years with Blue Wave in Brandon, FL along with Hall of Fame Coach, Don LaMonte and the former head coach of the Ireland team, Peter Banks, focusing on technique
- Adult Learn to Swim Instructor and Coach for the Sarasota YMCA, created new programs, trained other instructors, and assisted with swim clinics focusing on technique for all four strokes
